New American Funding announced Tuesday that it promoted Stacy Chevalier to Northwest regional vice president, effective Sept. 1, as the independent lender expands across five states.
Chevalier will oversee growth and sales strategy in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska as regional vice president for the lender. She joined New American Funding in January as an area manager with the company before this promotion to regional leadership.
Chevalier brings more than 26 years of experience in mortgage banking, sales, leadership, recruiting, production and market expansion, including retail lending and builder business across the Pacific Northwest.
In her new role, Chevalier will focus on building teams and branches while identifying new market opportunities for mortgage professionals. She also plans to help loan officers grow their businesses and support their professional development throughout the expanding Pacific Northwest region.
Chevalier said her goal is to build a regional operation that attracts mortgage professionals while supporting their continued growth and success in the competitive Northwest market.
Chevalier said her primary goal is to build a regional operation that attracts mortgage professionals while supporting their continued growth. She cited New American Funding's servicing portfolio of $73 billion and its entrepreneurial approach as major factors in joining the company.
After two-and-a-half decades in mortgage banking, Chevalier said she learned that people and culture matter more than the platform itself during her career across multiple markets.
Tony Blodgett, executive vice president of national retail sales for the West region, praised Chevalier's leadership style and local market knowledge in a statement on Tuesday.
Blodgett said Chevalier's local ties and understanding of loan officers' priorities give her the right balance of leadership and knowledge. He added that this combination will propel the Northwest region forward and support continued expansion across key markets under her direction.
Chevalier said her aim is to build a strong regional operation that attracts mortgage professionals while supporting their growth and success in the Pacific Northwest market.
The announcement comes shortly after New American Funding cut 160 jobs in its consumer direct division in response to current mortgage market conditions, the lender said.
New American Funding described the job cuts as a response to broader current challenging conditions in the nationwide mortgage market. The company said the decision reflected mounting pressures facing lenders across the country amid fluctuating interest rates and tight housing inventory.
The job reductions followed a recent period of expansion for New American Funding and other independent mortgage lenders across the industry. According to industry news outlet HousingWire, the cuts affected the company's consumer direct division and were reported earlier this month.
New American Funding's servicing portfolio exceeds $73 billion, a figure Chevalier cited when publicly discussing the company's scale and entrepreneurial approach in her new role recently.
The promotion signals New American Funding's continued focus on regional growth in the Pacific Northwest despite broader mortgage industry challenges and significant recently announced staff reductions.
